Before we define what a 'Beta Bank' is, we need to understand what payment statuses are, as payment statuses form the basis of what a 'Beta Bank' is.

A Payment Status is a message that indicates how far that a payment has progressed.

This is useful to the customer and ourselves as we can add suitable requests to Comma to check for these statuses through to payment completion. We're able to return the correct Payment Status back to our customers via notifications, i.e. whether the payment has simply been initiated successfully, is complete, has potentially failed, or has failed.

Therefore, a 'Beta Bank' is a bank that we are yet to support payment statuses for.
