HSBC Business processes bulk payments using BACS, rather than Faster Payments. BACS is available on most HSBC accounts, but often individual users need to turn this on within their online banking user settings. Here’s how:

Log in to HSBC Business Online Banking

Head to Manage Users and click on Existing Users

Click on Existing User you would like to change and the edit

In General Services tick these 2 options:

Scroll down until you find the BACS section, under Payment Services, and enable these options by ticking them and setting the payment limit for this user.

Once a confirmation code has been generated, click on Confirm and sign off on the amendment.
